Gingee Fort (King's fort)

An unexplored historical place in a small town of Gingee. There are two forts in Gingee. One is King fort and another one is Queen Fort. The place has witnessed battles between great rulers like Sivaji, Bijapur Sultane etc to capture the fort. Even the French and British were among them. But it is known for one great ruler, De Singh. He ruled Gingee during the 18th century. The local people says that he had a flying horse. Many people also say that he had a lot of Jewelry and armours made of gold which he hided in many places around Gingee in his final battle. There are many claims of finding them, people say that many people found some of them. One old guy, who is in his 80s something, said that one of his friend found one golden shield around 60 years ago.

I went to the King fort because I didn't had the time (and energy) to go to queen's fort. Actually I wasn't there for toursim purpose, I went for a personal work.
People from all over the world visit this fort. I met people from Germany, Russia, China, US, and Norway on my way. One can get people from different countries any time, even though there are no proper transport and other facilities.
This is also a famous place for shooting. Many famous movies and songs were taken here.

 Arrival
For those who want to go to Gingee can either get a bus from Chennai to Thiruvannamalai or the other way round and get a ticket to Gingee (ask for Senji, that's how local people call) or a bus from Villupuram to Gingee. Dont forget to buy some food and water before you go because you wont get anything in the fort. The fort is a couple of miles away from the main town. For any more questions, you can contact me. I know many people there who can help at anytime.

Food For those who have no problem in  eating normal food in normal places, can enjoy because there are a lot of places to eat in Gingee. But for the people who like to eat in top class food in top class restaurant, there is only one top class hotel in the city area (and i dont suggest you eat there). I had terrible experience in that hotel. There are many good hotels out of the main city area.  You just need to walk half kilometer (0.3 miles).
