The capital and the largest city in France is Paris. It is situated on Seine river, in northern France. It is also known as city of light and Capital of fashion. Paris also ranked among the ten greenest European cities in 2010. Paris is also known as the birth place of many photographers.
History in short
The archaeological signs of permanent settlements in the Paris area dates from around 4200 B.C. Throughout the history Paris has been a destination for the immigrants. Its considered to be a multicultural city with new immigrants from all over the world.

Summers in Paris are warm and pleasant. Spring and fall are normally cool and wet. The moderating effect of the Atlantic Ocean helps to temper temperature extremes in much of western Europe, including France.

Paris is served by 3 international airport. Charles de Gaulle International Airport( Roissy), Orly International Airport and Beauvais (Aéroport de Beauvais Tillé). There are seven major train stations connected to the rest of Europe.

The best and cheapest way to get around Paris is on foot, and secondly, using the Metro which is around one euro seventy cents for a one way trip of any length. But you can purchase a carnet of 10 tickets at €12. There are several other options like one day ticket, one week ticket and one month ticket. You can also get around by boat, bicycle or skate. Bus is also a good choice for you. You can purchase tickets at the bus stop. A one-day pass is €25 for adults and €15 for children. A two-day pass is €32 for adults or €15 for children.
You can find plenty of museums in Paris. One of the best value and most convenient ways to see the sights of Paris is with the Paris Museum Pass, a pre-paid entry card that allows entry into over 70 museums and monuments around Paris and comes in 2-day (€35), 4-day (€50) and 6-day (€65). Note that most museums and galleries are closed on either Monday or Tuesday. All national museums are open free of charge on the first Sunday of the month.

It seems like there's almost always something happening in Paris. Even so, there are a couple of annual events in the winter, starting with a furniture and interior decorating trade fair called Maison & Object in January.Also in July, Cinema en Plein Air is the annual outdoor cinema event that takes place at the Parc de la Villette, in the 9th on Europe’s largest inflatable screen. Other events are French Open, Le tour de France, Spring Fashion week, famous Bastille day, Rock en Sein (music festival) etc.
