It is advisable to visit Alleppey in December till February till the wheather is cold and you can go for speed boating and take a shikara boat for a comoplete day on backwater, once the march starts heat spoils the mood and one doesnt prefers to sight seing during noon hours.

Its 30 to 40 km from ernakulam station, so reaching here is not much of pain.. you can hire a cab and reach your hotel comfortably.
